Aestelier / About

Start by listening.
Then decide what to build.

Aestelier is a technology project at its beginning, exploring how tools could support visual artists while preserving their control over their work.

The person behind the project

Guillaume Schneider

I’m a software engineer and an artistic practitioner. With Aestelier, I’m researching how artists find, organise and use visual references to inform what to build.

Two directions, different horizons.

Aediris is the first idea being explored: visual research connected to a creative intention. It is in conception; the illustration on this site explains a possible direction.

Aegillis is a future project around the identity of creative work. Its scope is still open.

Principles to build around.

  1. 01

    Agency

The artist chooses the direction. A tool should support that choice.

  2. 02

    Consent

A record of a work should not become an automatic permission to reuse it.

  3. 03

    Interoperability

Work and its records should be able to move between tools.

These three principles carry Mission Prometheus into creative work. Read its principles and commitments
